Diana Gomez Promoted to Highest Ranking Latina Electrical Engineer at Caltrans

Diana Gomez, SHPE Foundation Chair February 21, 2012, CA – Former SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Inc) National President and current Chair of the SHPE Foundation, was promoted to California

Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Deputy District Director of Operations overseeing a staff of more than 380 people in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. In her new position, Ms Gomez will be responsible for the planning, organizing and directing of activities for the Caltrans Operations Division.

Vision: SHPE's vision is a world where Hispanics are highly valued and influential as the leading innovators, scientists, mathematicians and engineers.

Currently, the United States is facing a shortage of technical talent. Compared to international markets, the U.S. has fewer graduates in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) fields.
